They dont really count..?
THEY DON’T COUNT?!
Does count. Determines what classes you take next year.
Bull. The classes you take next year are determined by the classes you sign up for and whether or not you fulfilled the prereqs for that class. For example, for honors 11th grade English, usually it’ll say, “Must have gotten at least a B in English 10 and have a recommendation from a teacher” or something. I’ve never seen “Most have gotten ____ on the California Standardized tests” in the forms where we sign up for classes.
The SATs and ACTs are what colleges look at. The standardized tests are used to determine how much money a school gets.
(I could be making this all up so if you don’t believe me I don’t blame you. =D But look it up yourself.)
Okay, so Hars was telling me that his school puts them on their transcripts. So maybe it does matter? Because he also got frozen yogurt for a perfect score in something. :/

According to California Code of Regulations, Title 5, Education, Division 1, Chapter 2, Subchapter 3.75, Standardized Testing and Reporting Program, sections 852:
“(a) A parent or guardian may submit to the school a written request to excuse his or her child from any or all parts of any test provided pursuant to Education Code section 60640. A school district and its employees may discuss the Standardized Testing and Reporting program with parents and may inform parents of the availability of exemptions under Education Code section 60615. However, the school district and its employees shall not solicit or encourage any written exemption request on behalf of any child or group of children.””
You don’t even have to take them, apparently! According to all sources I’ve referred to (meaning the Yahoo! Answers and forum pages I clicked on from Google XD), they don’t count and colleges don’t even look at them when looking at your transcript. It’s weird that his school does put them on their transcripts, though. =/
I’m getting jealous of other states. We don’t get school off of Columbus Day and have STAR testing.!
